SZAFRAN Sam

1934 - 2019

ou Samuel BERGER. Un début de vie mouvementé : internement à Drancy et massacre de sa famille dans les camps. Après un séjour à Melbourne, retour à Paris en 1951. Entre 1953 et 1958, il réalise ses premières toiles et collages à l'Académie de la Grande Chaumière à Paris. Il se tourne ensuite vers la figuration et privilégie la technique du pastel. On connait ses "Escaliers" et ses "Philodendrons" qui ont atteint en vente des prix astronomiques. Il est exposé en France et dans le monde entier.
